Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin

The Waterpark Capital of the World

When you think of the best place in the world to enjoy going down a giant waterslide or splashing around in a giant wave pool, Wisconsin isn't the first place you always think of. But it should be, because the Wisconsin Dells is the Waterpark Capital of the World. And if it is waterpark fun you’re after, then you will surely find it in the Dells.

So why the claims that the Dells have the best waterparks? To start, there are 22 indoor water parks and water playgrounds in the area, meaning you can be splashing down all year round. There are also 3 outdoor water parks that operate in the warmer months. And between all these parks includes over 200 water slides, the world’s largest looping water slide, the USA’s largest indoor/outdoor combined water park, one of the world’s largest surf pools, and a dizzying variety of rides, wave pools, water roller coasters, and more.

Once you dry out from the warm water, there are plenty of winter activities you can enjoy with the frozen stuff. This is Wisconsin, after all, and in the Dells, there are miles and miles of snowmobile trails, plenty of hills to sled on, snow skiing, snow tubing, and ice skating. If you want some out of the ordinary winter fun, how about zip lining above and through the majestic red pine and white oak forests. The zip line is also open in the summer, when the snow melts and gives way to kayaking and rock climbing adventures.

When it’s time to wind down, the Dells again shines, with several original, one-of-a-kind specialty boutiques that make shopping a breeze. There are also several great and quirky local restaurants and pubs that offer all kinds of cuisine. The area is also full of other entertainment options, including the Ho-Chunk casino and bingo hall, theaters, comedy club, and the Tommy Bartlett Show, a classic water skiing and boating show featuring sparkly costumes, unbelievable stunts, fast boats, and a laser light show during night performances.

The Wisconsin Dells might be a little kitschy, but it’s genuine and a 100% American classic. With plenty of opportunities to slip and slide, ski and skate, shop to you drop, and gamble the night away, the Dells has something for everyone. And much more than you would ever expect.
