Where the Great Wall starts
Qinhuangdao is a coastal city in Heibei province in North China. In Chinese, Qin is a dynasty while Huang meas Emperor. Qinhuangdao was named after the very first Emperor in ancient China visited here and attempted to get immortal from the ocean in 215BC.
It lies at around 40 degrees of north latitude and the average temperature here in summer is 25℃ more or less. Characterized by four distinct seasons, Qinhuangdao has no brutal heat in summer or bitter cold in winter---but persistently warmer or colder at the above two extremes as is tuned by the oceans, and compared with the land-locked countries of the same latitude---in a cycle of spring sunshine and autumn prime. It is an ideal summer resort.
Beidaihe: Here，you will find the beautiful beach with winding coastline and smooth, high-quality sandy, hills covered by green and luxuriant vegetation and thought-provoking historical stories. The most interesting thing here is an activity called sandy-skating -- sitting on a skateboard then sliding from the top of the sandy hill with the wind whistled by and the sound of waves slapping against the rock. You’ll get the most exciting feeling springing up.
Shanhaiguan: This is the beginning of the Great Wall and crowned as “The gate of the first pass under heaven”.
Xin’ao Underwater World: Colorful halobios, penguin museum, dolphin shows, Popular science exhibition hall... It is children’s paradise and grown-ups’ happy hour.
By air: Shanhaiguan airport is 13km away from downtown. Flights to Shanghai, Xi’an, Dalian weekly.
By train: 3 main train stations, like Shanhaiguan Station, Beidaihe Station & Qinhuangdao Station.
By car or bus: several national roads & expressway. Bus to Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang & other north cities every day.
