Located just over an hour from Adelaide on the Fleurieu Peninsula is the historic port town of Goolwa, positioned at the mouth of the mighty Murray River.  Famous for its endless history and wealth of leisure activities as part of ‘The Encounter Coast', surrounding areas include famous Victor Harbor, where every type of watersport may be indulged, as well as Flora and Fauna parks.

Port Elliot which is both beautiful and picturesque, McLaren Vale, a famous wine growing area with over 50 wineries to visit.

Marine Cove Resort is set on about one acre of manicured grounds and features well equipped two bedroom units on two levels. Relax in the covered and heated indoor swimming pool, spa, sauna, or adults only lounge. Or have some fun in the games room, mini golf course, half court tennis court, kid's room, children's playground and sand pit.

here are plenty of BBQ areas with seating, and breakfast activities are available including the famous Holiday Concepts Pancake Breakfast.

Units feature a full kitchen with dishwasher and full size oven, a split cycle air conditioner/heater and TV with DVD/VHS player in the living room and the second bedroom. As well as children's activities every day except Sunday and Friday, you can also hire DVDs or a Playstation to keep the kids entertained.

Goolwa was Australia's first inland port and was the first non-European town to be awarded the name of ‘Cittaslow' meaning ‘slow town'. Judged on five different criteria (environment, infrastructure, quality of urban fabric, local produce and products, hospitality, awareness and education), there is something for people of all ages to experience and enjoy.

The paddle steamer ‘Oscar W', built in 1908, still runs river tours from the main wharf. The beginning of Australia's first railway line was also a historic milestone for Goolwa. It was used for transportation of goods, firstly to Port Elliot, before being extended to Victor Harbor. The famous ‘Cockle Train' still travels along that same route on the original broad gauge tracks. A trip not to be missed as it winds its way through some magnificent coastal scenery.

Goolwa also provides many opportunities to keep physically active. These include two golf courses within the town (9 holes at Goolwa Golf Course and 18 holes at South Lakes Golf Club), a fully sealed bike track which will take you from the resort to Victor Harbor, historic guided walks from the town centre, a huge variety of water sports and a new skate park built just off the main street of town.

With both fresh and salt water, Goolwa is a 'Mecca' for the keen fisherman and the Murray Mouth is not only a great place to fish, but a remarkable feature of the landscape.

Hindmarsh Island and the Coorong provide kilometres of unspoilt wetlands. Hindmarsh Island, found just across the river from Goolwa is now accessible via the ‘Hindmarsh Island Bridge'. The old cable ferry discontinued running after 140 years of use in 2001.

With fresh water on its northern shores and seawater on its southern shores, the Island is unique and perfect for fishing enthusiasts. The Island is also the starting point of the spectacular ‘Coorong Cruise' and boasts the largest marina in the Southern Hemisphere.

Just out of Goolwa you will find Victor Harbor, known for its Fairy Penguins and Clydesdale horse-drawn carts and Middleton, which is a popular meeting spot to enjoy surfing and body boarding.

Don't miss the Currency Creek wine region with several boutique wineries and intimate gourmet restaurants and McLaren Vale, a huge wine making area, famous for the Almond Train and Medlow's Chocolate factory.

Also for those who wish to explore further afield, the famous wine growing region of the Barossa Valley is an easy day trip and the Adelaide Hills village of Hahndorf displays it German heritage.

Of course, there's no need to venture too far to have the complete holiday experience. Marine Cove Resort is close to everything. Only one kilometre to golf, fishing, surf beach, and 4x4 driving fun. And within two and twenty kilometres you'll find hotels, shopping, arts and crafts, heritage areas, wineries, cruises, penguin tours, horseriding, whale-watching, the mouth of the mighty Murray and Victor Harbor.
