Exclusivity has a new home - Caribbean Estates! Located at the southern tip of Kwazulu-Natal, this beautiful resort is ideally located on the unspoilt Umtamvuna River. Nestled behind five hectares of protected indigenous coastal dunes, and surrounded by luxuriant gardens and sub-tropical parkland, it’s a Caribbean-style hideaway with its own pristine beach frontage. The golden sands and clear blue water of the Indian Ocean are, literally, at the bottom of the garden.
With its own private, boat-launching facility on the river, Caribbean Estates is a must for water-sports and angling enthusiasts. Featuring vibrant colours, verandas and balconies, deep eaves and gabled roofs, the resort’s gorgeous self-catering accommodation is perfect for that long-anticipated beach holiday.
Relax by one of the beautiful pools with a cocktail or hike one of the spectacular trails on foot or in the saddle. Bike or horse, the choice is yours. And if you feel like channelling your inner William’s sister, the all-weather, floodlit tennis courts are just the ticket.
There’s plenty of other stuff to do too, like ride a jet ski or go for a cruise, play 18-holes or just lie on the beach and enjoy the sound of the surf. The local area has a number of superb restaurants and it’s well worth venturing out and discovering what’s on offer. You won’t be disappointed.

Please take note: Late Arrivals - If you expect to arrive late for check-in, please ensure you telephone the resort (039 311 2045) prior to arriving to make arrangements for the key.Due to a number of complaints we would like the guests to be informed that the direct accessible beach and walking trails to the river and beach are mostly not suitable for the elderly or persons with any disabilities as the pathways are steep and have steps. Notice from Resort: We have received information that the kiosk/curio shop on-site has permanently closed for business from 07/01/2016. There will not be any facility as such on the resort until further notice. The nearest town is Port Edward - appx. 3km from the resort, where all necessities can be bought at the local Spar.The resort is currently undergoing repairs and maintenance in some units on the block where construction noise will be present. Please bare with us as this is a matter that must continue and can not be postponed.All units has a gasbraai.There is no beauty spa at Caribbean Estates.Towel & Linen: Resort towel changes will Only be done every Wednesday. Additional towel and linen changes is available daily at a cost to the guest's account.Complimentary: A free gate pass to The Wild Coast Sun Casino is permitted to every guest staying at Caribbean Estates, and will only be valid for the period of their stay.A key and breakage deposit fee is payable on arrival. It can be paid with credit card but credit card facilities are only available during office hours. After hours guests must either pay with cash or by cash cheque. This deposit is refundable after departure. The units offers a commercial bouquet of 13 DSTV channels. Cleaning services do not apply on Sundays. There are only communal braais at the resort. There are no sea views from any of the units on the resort. General: All complaints regarding resorts should be directed to the resorts itself and DAE will not be held liable for any complaints regarding the quality of accommodation, services, facilities and any other complaints relevant to the resort. The user shall be bound by the resort rules and the use agreement applicable between the member / shareholder and the Resort/Share block/Points Club. DAE will not be held responsible for any incorrect information supplied with regards to the resort not due to DAE's negligence. The resort reserves the right to refuse admittance if the booking confirmation letter is not produced, or if the number of persons exceeds that shown on the confirmation letter /unit configuration. Persons allowed include children of all ages. The resort holds the right to deny any day visitors. Check-in will only be allowed on presentation of a valid confirmation letter and corresponding guest ID. DAE does not take responsibility for any accommodation purchased from a second or third party or incorrect information supplied by a second / third party. On selling of DAE inventory is strictly prohibited which will result in termination of membership as well as cancellation of all reservations with full forfeiture of amounts paid. NO OVERCROWDING – The resort will only allow the maximum number of persons as stated above, to occupy the unit/chalet. The total number of persons per chalet includes persons of all ages. Overcrowding of any kind will lead to eviction of the exceeded number people or the payment of an additional rental charge depending on availability of such accommodation. No Exceptions will be made.

Additional Info

The resort has the right to assign a different unit of the same occupancy to the one originally allocated. Should a unit number not appear on your reservation letter, one will be assigned to you by the resort on arrival.

From the resort there is direct access down to the beach and the Umtamvuna River. This is quite a lengthy walk.There is also a jogging and hiking trail on-site.All units are self-catering with own balcony or patio.

Disabled Notes

Villa 21 , 23 . 25 , 27 and 29 are only wheelchair accessible because their is no steps.Please note that it is not wheelchair friendly inside with regards to the space, furniture layout and rails in the bathrooms. These units can also be used for the elderly.

From King Shaka Airport:

Follow signs for N2, South (Durban / Port Shepstone). Once on N2, travel south pass the N3 off ramp to GT, remain south bound pass the old Durban International Airport. You will pass a tollgate on the N2 south at Port Shepstone. Continue south on the R61 towards Port Edward. Pass the traffic lights for +/- 2km’s and we are on the left hand side of the main south coast road, just before the Umtamvuna River Bridge (1,5km before the Wild Coast Sun)

What a nice place

A big thank you to Caribbean Estates, we were so pleased with the quality and standards at the resort. Our place was beautifully furnished and clean. The surrounding area was also neat and we enjoyed the clean pool outside. Will definitely try and go again.

Caribbean Estate review

The resort was clean, neat and kept in a good running condition. The maintenance staff were friendly. The beach is pristine and not crowded which for us is a big thing. It is a very pleasant resort and we will be going back to the resort in the future.

Loved the resort. I would go back any time. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. Resort was outstanding and clean.
